I am making some changes around here and I want to explain why and what to expect!
I am finally somewhat coming out of the postpartum fog with my third baby, and for a while now, I have been considering what work could look like for our family and me in the future. With the help of a business coach and close friend, I have been working hard behind the scenes to expand and stretch myself beyond this blog and to build more.
That has resulted in writing a book. More specifically, a 100-day journal to help walk alongside moms who have experienced a complicated birth.
The journal is called Carried.
The blog will continue, but it will now take place on my website. All of my past posts can be found there, and it is where I will write future posts. I will continue to share about our lil warrior, tips and tricks, lessons learned, products I recommend, and advice for those new to this diagnosis or experience.
It would mean so much to me if you continued to follow along in the new space. Please click HERE.
Starting this blog six years ago, my hopes and dreams were to share our family’s experiences with you and to connect with others along the way. I have achieved that, and more, and for that I am so grateful. What I have learned in the process of starting this blog is a couple of things:
One, I was born to write. Since I was little, I have had a passion for this subject, and it is the only one in school that I have ever truly enjoyed. Not only that, but I have generations of writers in my family – it’s quite literally in my blood. My paternal grandfather owned a newspaper company in Iowa; I wrote for the newspaper team in high school, and in college, I started out studying journalism.
Life had a funny way of taking me in different directions that were away from pursuing a career in writing, but when Elliott was born, something in me reignited. I felt the need to write about our story, and in doing that, I fell back in love with it.
Second, I have a deep desire to connect with others, more specifically, moms who have gone through hardship. Similar to writing, I have always enjoyed building interpersonal relationships. I love being around others — helping and serving them in some capacity. It comes naturally for me, and I genuinely love it.
One of the reasons I created Carried is that it is vitally important to me that other moms know they are not alone as they process and deal with an unexpected or complicated birth. I have taken lessons from my own story over the last 8 years and am passing it along to help others along their way.
The goal over time is to write more and connect with more women — starting with the journal and expanding from there. The website is also where I will sell products as I create them, but for now, it provides all the information and shop for Carried.
I am eternally grateful to all the moments, both big and small, that have led me to this point. I can’t wait to see what the future holds, and I am hopeful that this next step will be a huge blessing for many women who have walked, or are walking, a similar path.
That said, if you or anyone you know has experienced a complicated birth, I really believe this journal could be a resource that helps. I encourage you to check out more information on the website and let me know your thoughts!
Thank you for the love over the last six years, for the community we have built on WordPress, and for being there from the beginning of our Lil Warrior journey.
